Our School - Preschool

Welcome to Para Vista Preschool

The Preschool provides an engaging and supportive environment which caters for children who are 3 - 5 years of age. Children can attend five sessions a week and are eligible to receive four terms of preschool. Aboriginal children may attend from the age of 3. Children from Non-English speaking backgrounds may be able to access Early Entry.

The Preschool is open Monday to Thursday for morning and afternoon sessions.

Morning sessions are from 8.45am to 11.45am.

Afternoon sessions are from 11:45am to 2:45pm.

Out of School Hours Care can be accessed through the school.

The educational program at Para Vista Preschool is based on the National Early Years Learning Framework for Australia – Belonging, Being & Becoming.

We use developmental, play-based learning focused on the children’s individual interests and developmental needs. The framework considers the following 5 learning outcomes.

* Children have a strong sense of identity

* Are connected with and contribute to their world

* Have a strong sense of wellbeing

* Are confident and involved learners

* Are effective communicators

Children develop and learn to be successful learners at their own rate through play based learning activities.   We strive for children to be confident and creative individuals.   Children participate in a wide variety of literacy & numeracy experiences, which help to develop comprehension and inquiry through stories, rhymes, games, and music activities. Children are given the opportunity to learn social skills and acceptance through dramatic play, group work and hands on activities.  We are very proud of our outside environment and we have a strong emphasis on Nature play where children can manipulate “loose parts” through their play. Children are also able to enjoy natural cubbies under the canopies of trees and have the pleasure of cooking ‘mud pies’ in our mud kitchen.  We encourage healthy eating at Preschool and the children have a time where they eat a fresh fruit or vegetable snack.  Children learn how they can care for the environment and upkeep our vegetable and herb garden as well as looking after our chickens and natural environments.

We maintain links with Preschool Support Services. Children with developmental, learning or speech and language needs can be catered for at the Preschool through the Preschool support program.

 We report to parents through: end of Preschool year Summative Reports, interviews, informal conversations, regular newsletters and displays.  We collect work samples and photos which show your child’s development.

The weekly program is available to children, families and staff.

Fees for 4 or 5 Preschool sessions are $75.00 per term. You will receive an invoice at the beginning of each term.
