Our School - Physical Education

In Physical Education, students develop the skills, knowledge, and understanding to strengthen their sense of self, and build and manage satisfying, respectful relationships. At the core of Physical Education is the acquisition of movement skills and concepts to enable students to participate in a range of physical activities – confidently, competently and creatively. As a foundation for lifelong physical activity participation and enhanced performance, students acquire an understanding of how the body moves and develops positive attitudes towards physical activity participation. They develop an appreciation of the significance of physical activity, outdoor recreation and sport in Australian society and globally. Movement is a powerful medium for learning, through which students can practise and refine personal, behavioural, social and cognitive skills.

Progression from Preschool to Year 7 – In the Preschool they focus on the introduction and development of basic fundamental movement skills across a range of settings to improve their competence and confidence in their movement abilities. They are provided with opportunities to work collaboratively, follow rules and problem solve through games and physical activities.

In Year 7 students continue to develop and refine specialised movement skills and focus on developing tactical thinking skills in a range of contexts and applying them to physical activities. They have opportunities to analyse their own and others' performance using feedback to improve body control and coordination. They also consider ethical behaviour and fair play when participating in physical activities
